Description

Assists in the coordination of banquet service activities of the Hotel by performing the following duties
 
Oversees the set-up of function rooms to include placement of tables, chairs, linens, silver, china and glassware according to event order specifications. Visually inspects function rooms and equipment prior to functions being set
 
Works directly with the guest at events to ensure all specifications are executed up to standards and any last minute changes or requests are met; investigates and resolves any complaints
 
Confers with food preparation and other personnel during the course of the function including, but not limited to, the kitchen, service, beverage, convention services, and engineering staffs, to ensure timely execution of the event
 
Plans menus and related activities such as dining room, bar, and banquet operations
 
Inspects food and food preparation to maintain quality standards and sanitation regulations
 
Reviews financial transactions and monitors budget to ensure efficient operation, and to ensure expenditures stay within budget limitations
 
Schedules team members within budgeted guidelines and monitors payroll through ADP. Uses approved time edit log to record any miss-punches or late punches.
Creates pre-function lists of responsibilities to be completed before staff members arrive, this will also have break down duties and clean up to ensure productivity.
Inspects set-up schedule to ensure it is within budgeted restraints
 
Ensures all liquor and food consumption sheets are properly completed and turned in with BEO
Completes captain’s reports for all functions and copies F&B Director
Monitors Delphi checks and ensures they are signed and match the Micros checks (Should be stapled together and turned in with daily tip sheet and employee financial report)
Other duties may be assigned as needed
 
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises 20+ employees. This person is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. He/she carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
 
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
3-5 years experience in food and beverage industry in a supervisory or lead role; must have had some banquet experience; experience in a hotel is highly preferred
 
EDUCATION
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Have and maintain good communication skills with staff and management
Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell.  The employee is occasionally required to sit.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
 
WORK ENVIRONMENT 
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, explosives, risk of radiation, and vibration.  The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
