Description
SUMMARY
Maintains the guestrooms, public space and back of the house areas in good repair by performing various tasks related to a variety of trades including, but not limited to, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, painting, wall covering and masonry to ensure an attractive and well-maintained hotel.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but not limited to, the following. (Employee must be able to complete essential functions with or without a reasonable accommodation.)
 
Makes repairs and inspects guestrooms, public space and back of the house areas to repair, including but not limited to: touch-up or replacing light fixtures and bulbs, lamps, switches, outlets, faucets, toilets, hardware, filters, etc.
 
Paints, delivers and/or repairs furniture, wall coverings, caulking, grouting, or other miscellaneous repairs.
 
Visually inspects and detects items needing repairs
 
Cleans and supplies workshops
 
Completes any special projects assigned by supervisor
 
Other duties may be assigned as needed.
 
QUALIFICATIONS 
Basic electrical, plumbing and carpentry skills required
 
Functional familiarity with basic power tools and hand tools.
 
Basic mechanical aptitude for operation and repair of hotel equipment.
 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
 
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
Functional familiarity with basic power tools and hand tools.
 
Basic mechanical aptitude for operation and repairs
 
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. 
 
Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
 
Ability to multi-task and prioritize
 
Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations
 
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS 
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
 
WORK ENVIRONMENT 
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; and vibration.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
